The Cardinal Points in Uphelios are Nord, Est, Suud and Vesta (or Vest).

EstEdit

'East', in Uphelios nautical terms, Est is used to denote the direction in which a destination, landmass or other ships lie. e.g Esterly, Estward, Nord-Est.

NordEdit

'North', in Uphelios nautical terms, Nord is used to denote the direction in which a destination, landmass or other ships lie. e.g Nordmost, Nordward, Nord-Est.

SuudEdit

'South', in Uphelios nautical terms, Suud is used to denote the direction in which a destination, landmass or other ships lie. e.g Suuderly, Suudward, Suud-Vest.

VestaEdit

'West', in Uphelios nautical terms, Vest is used to denote the direction in which a destination, landmass or other ships lie. e.g Vesterly, Vestmost, Nord-Vest. Oft-times said Vesta to better differentiate it from Est.

StarsEdit

The constellations are also used to navigate the High Seas. The mariner's Constellations are: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Draco, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. For more information on them, please see The Zodiac.

PlanetsEdit

In Uphelios the Celestial Bodies are used for navigation, prediction (in almanacs, astrology, pagan ritual and certain calendars). They are defined into two Houses: Heavenly House (including The Sun, the Moon, and the Belt (the asteroid belt between the inner and outer planets) ; Celestial House (including all of the planets as broken down further into the Inner (Mercury, Venus, Uphelios and Mars) and the Outer (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranos, Neptune, Pluto and Ceres).

Despite the seemingly old-fashioned time period, the combination of classics studies in archaic Nonian and Miran philosophers, the startling recent technological advances made by Medirland Scholars, and the mythos of Ganonian Occultists (much inspired by and pieced together from the disparate Pagan faiths in the world), much more is known about the universe in this age than at mirroring time periods on Earth. Due to these Clockwork Telescopes, mathematical calculations of gravitational pulls, rotational bodies in the heavens and elaborate astrological charting, the people of Uphelios are aware of the presence of all of the celestial bodies in their solar system - a unit which they refer to as the Empyrean Sphere.
